Restaurant 104 Drumcondra History

“In Youkstetter’s, the pork-butcher’s, Father Conmee observed pig’s puddings, white and black and red, lying neatly curled in tubes.”
James Joyce – Ulysses

Restaurant 104 History

Restaurant 104 is situated in what was once one of the Youkstetter pork butchers immortalised by James Joyce in Ulysses.
The original ornate tiling can be found both inside and out adding a historic feel to the premises.

In 2007 Aidan & Karen became custodians of the famous Joycean Youkstetter Pork Butcher Shop @ 104 Upper Drumcondra Road in the heart of Drumcondra Village.
Proud to be a part of Drumcondra’s rich history, they went to great lengths to make 104 stand out from the crowd.
The cheese Pantry soon became a local favourite with Ireland’s first walk-in climatically controlled cheese room.

In 2014 we said goodbye to the Cheese Room as the restaurant area became too small to house our loyal following.
It was a tough decision but we racked our brains & figured out the best way to please both our cheese connoisseurs & food lovers.

Restaurant104 was born!

At Restaurant104 we still go to great lengths to source delicious food, cheese and quality wines, served by cheerful staff in a beautiful space.
So, if it’s a lazy breakfast, lunch with friends, dinner with family or a special occasion, join us in this historic building and we will treat you to great music, warm staff and above all great food.
